Have only been experimenting with this for a few days now and was about to give up as have had almost zero success.
I’m using a Kenwood TS480 with a Digimode adapter and a Dell laptop. This combination works 100% on PSK, RTTY, SSTV, FT4, FT8 and every other digital mode I’ve tried!
I can receive stations fine; but when I Transmit, I’m being told I’m “coming out on SSB”. How can that possibly happen. I’m in ‘Digital Mode’ and can see no obvious path from the laptop mic direct to the TS480. Surely it has to be digitally encoded audio going out?
I fully understand that the laptop internal mic(s) are far from ideal, but at this stage all I want it to see if this mode is useable from my compromised location.
Has anyone else set-up FreeDV with something similar to the above? I’d be really pleased to hear from you.
